Today is my last day of teaching at Owen College. I will return in March, but many of you will be gone, so I would like to say thank you – from the bottom of my heart.

 

I have been back to Yangshuo many times. Although it’s a beautiful place, it’s not the town that makes me return, it’s not the mountains or the food that make me return. It’s all of you. 

 

You have taught me so much.

 

You are proud of your country and have told me about your home towns and local food and customs. I can now name all the provinces, and point to them on the map. Before I left Canada, I only knew about Beijing, ShangHai, Hong Kong, the Great Wall and Marco Polo.

 

You have taught me many Chinese words so that I am comfortable when I’m talking to Mr. Hello, eating at a restaurant or buying fruit.

 

You have taught me that I only need to say thank you – one time.

 

You have told me about the many things that are good for my health.

 

You have helped me get some very good bargains.

 

You have always given me the tofu first.

 

You have accepted me and made me feel valuable.

 

You are wonderful young people.

 

I will think of you when I am at home and I will take some photos of the snow at Christmas.

 

I will miss you.

 

Sharon, Anne, Jessica, Bryan, Melissa, Apple, Summer, and of course Peter; It’s been a pleasure working with such a professional and caring group of teachers.

 

Trent, Bason, Bob, Catherine and especially LiuHai; You’ve been very helpful and always greeted me with a ready smile.

 

So, to everyone – thank you  – just one time.
