Martin Harris

I am a native English speaker from Melbourne, Australia. I have completed a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Computer Science at the University of Melbourne. After graduating, I worked for three years in an international software development corporation. I have recently completed TEFL training and I have won awards for English at Lilydale High School where I was Valedictorian. I am teaching in Yangshuo as part of my travel around Asia and I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to interact with Chinese students and share knowledge about different cultures.

I have studied Health sciences at Victoria University and taught different students on a variety of topics. Since being in Yangshuo I have enjoyed teaching and also the energy and enthusiasm of all the students involved．

Marie

Marie is from Montreal, Canada and joined Owen College as a volunteer in August 2007. She came to China to work with students who are eager to learn English and also to study Chinese language and culture. Before coming to China, Marie was a Business student at McGill University in Canada. She says that Yangshuo is a beautiful town with endless things to do and many interesting people to meet. She enjoys teaching at Owen College because of its great staff, motivated students and breathtaking surroundings.

Rosalie Ellis

Introduction to Rosalie Ellis

Books and horses were often my only companions during my New Zealand childhood, as I was the only girl in my class for most of my primary school education. As a result of the first, I developed a love of the English language, and as a result of the second, I did not learn how to ride a bike. That’s a pity, because I’d love to be able to ride around Yangshuo. The last city I worked in was Xiangfan, where the traffic was not friendly enough for me to even contemplate such an activity.

I have taught commercial subjects in London and worked for the UN in Austria. I’ve traveled through Sri Lanka, India and Bangaladesh, meeting craftspeople in my role as an Education Person for Trade Aid (NZ) and for three years I worked as an Adult Educator for a community college in Northern NSW, Australia. I’ve also been an editor, writer and publisher of various magazines, books and learning materials.

Now the final chapter is to imbue Chinese people in Yangshuo with my passion for English (and hopefully learn how to ride a bike).

Hi,everybody!I am Ellen,a Chinese English teacher of Owen Language College! I graducated from Hunan International Economics University and my major is Applied English .During my education, I have grasped the principals of my major and skills of practice. Not only have I passed CET-6, Tem-4.but more importantly,I pay more attention to my comprehensive ability .I have been a foreigner teaching assistant in the FAO so now i can communicate with others freely in English. My ability to write and speak English is out of question. .
     I am a active,confident,easy-going girl.I think the most important thing for being an English teacher is to make students talk and teach them how to communicate.Because language is used to communicate with other people .As for my teaching experience ,I have taught in a English training school in Yangshuo.and I was responsible for New English Concept2 and PETS-3 as well in Guangcheng Foreign language school.Now I am very happy to work here.and I hope all my students will make great progress!

Greg

Greg was raised and has lived most of is life in Toronto, Canada. There, he attended York University, achieving Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English literature. Greg is fond of travel, and has had opportunity to travel throughout Europe and the British Isles. Presently, he is developing his teaching skills at Owen College in Yangshuo.
